Dell M3800 with Nvidia Driver and External Monitor
I have problems with my notebook DELL Precision M3800 with NVIDIA Quadro K1100 and Intel. I need to use the proprietary driver nvidia (I tested the 331 that 349) with my external monitor.
My external monitor (DELL) has a resolution of 1920*1200, I connect via DVI-miniDP adapt but my system at each session view this error: could not set the configuration for CRTC 64.
Setting: Notebook Resolution: 1920*1080 Ext Monitor: 1920*1200

you can try this:
xrandr -s 1920x1200
xrandr --output HDMI2 --auto --left-of eDP1the first command set your main screen to the resolution 1920x1200, and the second command let your external monitor have the same resolution with your main screen. Alternatively, you can use --same-as or --right-of options
1This sounds like you have broken adapter to me.
I use this laptop with an external 4k screen which i have connected via hdmi and display port.
It works out of the box.
